About Us

The Massapequa Road Runners Club (MRR) was founded in 1976. We are located on the south shore of Long Island in Nassau County, bordering Amityville, Seaford, Plainedge, and Farmingdale. We have members from all over Long Island and welcome all runners, joggers, and walkers.

The MRR colors of red, white, and blue can be seen at many races all over Long Island, and runners' abilities range from recreational to highly competitive. We are a friendly club, and enthusiastically supporting each other is what we do best! As running partners, we motivate one another to achieve various goals and share our joy of running and staying fit. We train for 5ks, 10ks, Half and Full Marathons, and Triathlons, and travel near and far to compete. We also host two races annually, the Massapequa Firecracker 5k Run/Walk and the Massapequa Park Mile.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, we are grateful for the support of our generous race sponsors and dedicated MRR volunteers, who not only allow us to put our races on but, in doing so, help us to fund two annual Massapequa High School Track Scholarships, support the Girls on the Run organization, and donate to other nonprofits, including local food banks, select charitable races, and new this year, Special Olympics New York.

Our club holds board meetings on the first Thursday of every month and member meetings semiannually. We also host social events such as breakfasts in the park, a summer barbecue, and a holiday party, and offer educational meetings from time to time. We enjoy being active in the community and can also be seen at many events.

We welcome you to join us anytime to meet other running enthusiasts. We gather at Brady Park in Massapequa Park most weekends and run/walk on the bicycle path in the scenic Massapequa Preserve at 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. on Sundays. We also have destination runs and occasionally meet up with other local running clubs as well.

Hope to see you in the Park!
