Dr. Keith Durante, board
certified by the American Board of Surgery, Has also
been a practicing surgeon in the community of West
Islip for more than 15 years. He has performed
multiple procedures over the years in both general
and vascular surgery and also serves as a Trauma
Surgeon at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
Dr. Durante, having been expertly trained at the
prestigious Hope Heart Institute in Seattle,
Washington, has been treating patients with venous
disorders for many years. Since the summer of 2006,
following extensive training, he provides his
patients with revolutionary laser procedures for
various venous arterial disorders.
Dr. Durante is an Adjunct
Clinical Professor of Surgery at the New York
College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.
Y. and has been published in the Annuals of Vascular
Surgery. He and his wife, Kathleen, have three
children and are involved in school activities as
well as local fund raising events. The family enjoys
skiing and many other family related activities.
Education
Dr. Durante graduated from St.
George's University School of Medicine, Grenada,
West Indies. Following his postgraduate training at
North General Hospital, The Mount Sinai Center, New
York, N.Y., he served as Assistant Chief of the
Division of Vascular Surgery at Catholic Medical
Center & Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica , N.Y.

BBQ/General Meeting Minutes August 10,
2010
Location: Brady Park, Massapequa Park
Called to order: 6:50 p.m. by Diane DeLissio
1- Our condolences to Sue Kueffner on her father's
passing.
2- The winners for the trips to Saratoga will be drawn
at our September meeting.
3- Election results for Club Officers are:
a) President - Diane DeLissio; b) 1st Vice President
- Annette Gangitano & John DeLissio (sharing position);
c) 2nd Vice President - Paul
Letosky; d) Treasurer - Paula MacCulloch &
Warren Vandewater (sharing position); e) Recording
Secretary - Margarita Hernandez;
f) Correspondence Secretary - Linda Zimmermann.
4- Massapequa Park Mile went off smoothly per Gene
Leahy. There were 195 finishers.
5- Sept. 4th - Main Street Farmingdale Mile at Runner's
Edge.
6- Sept. 12th - A Day at the Races -- Members will
meet at noon at Belmont Park Raceway.
7- The Massapequa Park Preserve's path still needs to be
marked. How & when is unknown at this time. Dennis &
Diane will discuss
this with the contractor.
8- Summer Series Volunteers. Reminders to improve our
club's image.
a) Water station clean up includes not only cups but
blue bottle tabs, gel packs, plastic bottles and
anything considered garbage.
b) Volunteers scheduled early, at 4:30 p.m., should
check in with Tom Campbell.
c) Refreshments for volunteers will be brought to
our meeting spot -- no need to go on line with the
runners.
d) Only runners are entitled to beer, not
volunteers.
Our BBQ/Picnic was a huge success, loads of food and
drinks plus desserts and conversation. Thank you John
for the tasty grilled chicken, grilled salmon and juicy
steaks; you did a great job. Thanks Diane, you slice
like a chef. A good time was enjoyed by all.

Board Meeting Minutes August 19, 2010
Location: Massapequa Park Library
Called to order: 7:10 p.m.
In attendance: Diane & John DeLissio, Annette Gangitano,
Linda & Bruce Zimmermann, Gene Leahy, Warren Drezen and
Margarita Hernandez.
1- Nov. 9th - General meeting - Fashion Show at Runner's
Edge.
2- Dec. 11th - Holiday Party at the "Galaxie".
3- NYS Summer Series Runs reviewed and discussed by the
board, re: iron out flaws, number of volunteers needed
for each race, improved maps, volunteers for specific
assignments e.g. Children's run, registration & snacks.
4- Firecracker & Massapequa Park Mile volunteers can
pick up their shirts (if they didn't already) at the
September general meeting.
